The “Sponsor a Child” program allows individuals to support a child’s education by contributing $9 per month. This fully covers the student’s tuition fees, which is used for school supplies, teacher salaries, and utilities, ensuring the child receives a quality education.
In Tanzania, many children face significant barriers to accessing quality education. At our school, we provide essential learning opportunities for 60 children aged 3-6. However, the cost of tuition, set at $8 per month, is beyond the reach of most families. Currently, 45 of these children cannot afford to pay, and those who can often struggle to make timely payments.
This financial challenge not only impacts the children but also affects the stability and resources of our school. Without consistent funding, it becomes difficult to pay our dedicated teachers and supply the necessary educational materials. These children are eager to learn and grow, but without support, their potential remains untapped.
Our “Sponsor a Child” program aims to bridge this gap. By sponsoring a child, you provide more than just financial aid; you offer hope, stability, and a pathway to a brighter future. Your contribution of just $9 a month ensures that these children receive the education they deserve, helping to break the cycle of poverty and create lasting change in their communities.
Yes, your sponsorship will directly connect you with an actual child. After confirmation of your sponsorship, you will receive a profile of the child you are sponsoring, along with regular updates. This personal connection allows you to see the tangible impact of your support on the child’s life and education.
To protect the privacy and safety of the children in our program, we do not allow sponsors to choose a specific child. Instead, you can select your preferred age and gender, or keep it as no preference. This ensures that all children receive equal opportunities and that their personal information remains secure. By allowing us to match you with a child, we can create a safe and supportive environment for everyone involved.
Yes! You can choose to sponsor as many children as you want.
At the age of six, a child will graduate and go to primary school. Unfortunately, this level of education is not currently offered by Satino, though it’s our goal to one day be able to offer this. Until then, children go to school at Satino from age 3-6. This means you can sponsor one child for up to three years. Once your sponsor child has graduated, you will be notified and given the opportunity to sponsor another child.
Because the safety of our children is a main priority of ours, correspondence between sponsor and child would need to be regularly monitored, which is labour intensive work. To reduce operational costs and ensure as much of your donation goes to the child’s tuition, we do not offer a method of correspondence between the sponsor and the child or their family. This also prevents disappointment amongst the children who do not receive any letters.
If a child graduates or no longer needs sponsorship, we will notify you and provide the option to transfer your sponsorship to another child in need.
Sponsorship is entirely voluntary. You can pause or cancel your sponsorship at any time by contacting our support team via our Contact form or at [email protected].
Ensuring the privacy and safety of the children we support is paramount to us. We follow strict protocols to protect their personal information, including storing data securely with encrypted systems. Access to this information is limited to authorized personnel only, and we never share children’s profiles online without explicit consent from parents or guardians. These measures ensure that children’s personal information remains secure and confidential at all times.
In today’s digital age, safeguarding children is our top priority. While we appreciate your enthusiasm in sharing about your sponsored child, it’s important to protect their privacy and safety. Please refrain from posting any information online that could potentially identify or locate the child, such as their last name, community, or photos.
We encourage you to share your experience on social media to inspire others to join our mission. You can share general messages like, “Supporting SATINO has been incredibly rewarding. I’m proud to make a difference in children’s lives.” Your support and understanding in protecting children’s identities are greatly appreciated.
Thank you for helping us ensure the safety and well-being of every child in our care.

Sponsoring a child costs $9 per month, which includes the $8 tuition fee we ask of our students, and a $1 processing fee. You do have the option to sponsor a higher amount.
Your donation is primarily used to cover the child’s tuition fees, which provide essential school supplies and pay teacher salaries, directly impacting the quality of education. A small part is used to cover the processing fees.
At Satino, we ask the absolute minimum of our students to ensure the survival of our school, which is $8. However, providing the option for sponsors to contribute more allows us to enhance the quality of education we offer. Extra funds from sponsors go directly towards purchasing higher quality school supplies and increasing teachers’ salaries, thereby improving the same critical areas that regular tuition supports. This additional support helps us offer a better learning environment and attract and retain dedicated educators.
Satino uses Stripe for handling financial transactions, which asks a 2.9% + $0.30 fee per transfer. To cover these costs without reducing the amount allocated for the students’ tuition, we ask for an additional dollar.
SATINO is registered as an NGO in the United States, under IRS Section 501(c)(3), which means donors can deduct contributions they make to SATINO under IRC Section 170.
